Family history record keeping

My early research was all over the place and to recall information for my book was like sifting through a pile of rubbish to find a lost piece of paper. At the time I was not concerned about the snippets of information I was finding and discarding as my only interest was to trace the heirs of Isabel.

With hindsight that was a big mistake, as later when facts started to overlap and a clearer picture of the families of my three John Campbells emerged I needed to retrace my steps.

Some of the information gleaned and discarded became relevant to the incredible histories of my three families. Oh how I wished I had kept a file or a card index of the scraps of research. My only excuse being that I originally had no intention of writing my book SEEKING JOHN CAMPBELL.
